The World Resources Institute is a global research non-profit organization established in 1982 with funding from the MacArthur Foundation under the leadership of James Gustave Speth. WRI’s activities are focused on seven areas: food, forests, water, energy, cities, climate, and ocean.


Job Responsibilities
  • Data gathering and analysis (40%)
  • Maintain mapping of member and partner activities related to gender and youth in NDC implementation and enhancement
  • Work with the knowledge management team to identify and tag gender- and youth-related requests from countries, for inclusion in the Partnership’s knowledge management system
  • Develop an analysis of trends in country requests and gaps in support for those requests and concise briefs, presentations, and communication materials to share this analysis with members and external audiences
  • Extract and synthesize country successes, lessons, and effective practices for mainstreaming gender equality and youth participation from internal Partnership facilitator, country and regional reports, or input into knowledge and communication products
  • Identify technical resources, tools, platforms or financial resources related to youth and gender and ensure their incorporation in the Partnership’s Knowledge Portal
  • With Support Unit colleagues, review potential projects from member countries and advise on gender- and youth-responsiveness
  • Track implementation of the Gender Strategy and Youth Engagement Plan, working with the Monitoring and Evaluation team
  • Coordination and facilitation (40%)
  • Coordinate and facilitate work with consultants to support the implementation of the Gender Strategy
  • Work with consultants and country engagement team members to ensure relevant staff is equipped to advise and countries on key elements of gender and youth and to assess NDC implementation plans and provide relevant feedback. This will include the design and implementation of training sessions for staff

  • Engage with members or external partners that express interest in providing gender or youth support to fill gaps in country requests
  • Work with knowledge and learning team members to organize peer exchanges and other learning events for members
  • With the communications team and in coordination with members, organize and facilitate an annual Youth Engagement Forum
  • Work with members to synthesize key messages from the Forum for presentation to the Partnership’s Steering Committee meeting

Job Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience with gender-inclusive approaches and/or youth engagement, particularly in climate change action or related fields
  • Master’s degree required or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2+ additional years of relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and self-motivated
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Strong computer skills including a high level of comfort with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Additional language fluencies (beyond English), particularly French, is not required but preferred
  • US Work Authorization required. WRI is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this opportunity.
