Reform of Education System

Introduction

Indian education has its roots in the ancient age where they followed the Gurukul system. However, this system was changed during the colonial era when the British set up schools that followed a curriculum confined to subjects such as math, science, etc.

Today India is the second-largest higher education network in the world but the system of education in India is not up to mark as 25% of the Indian population is illiterate. According to the United Nation Development Programme, education global index rank of India is 135.

According to a global survey conducted in 74 countries, India was ranked 73rd in terms of quality of education.

Our education system making focuses on theoretical knowledge. Subsequently, there is a lack of practical knowledge. Indian schools emphasize more on theory than the implementation of the theory and that's why we see students struggling for getting a job even after finishing their studies.

Not only the level of education is increased which will enhance an individual's knowledge but also it will, in turn, lead to the upliftment of the country that we are in dire need of and certainly, India will become one of the best in terms of education by coming onto the path of becoming a developed nation.

The Indian education system as a social system is very hard on kids and completely ignores their state of mind, opinions, and ambitions for their future.

Lack of Top quality education programs, poor quality of teachers, outdated syllabus, lack of infrastructure in college as well as schools are some of the lacunas which need to get redressed.

The Indian education system needs some major changes to uplift its education quality. Some basics of theoretical knowledge are needed but our education system should focus more on practical aspects. Certain facts need to be developed:

      To provide real-life skill

Finding the perfect balance between traditional linear and complex

      Transformed the realm of teaching

Students are building the same conceptual foundation

The focus should be on skill-based education.

Reforms should be based on aligning education with a society's core values. Reforms that attempt to change a society's core values can connect alternative education initiatives with a network of other alternative institutions.

Education reforms desire to make public education into a market in the form of an input-output system. This conceptualization of educational reform is based on the market logic of competition.

Quote

"Give a man fish and you feed him one day, teach him how to catch fishes and you feed him for a lifetime".

As Dr. Abdul kalam

India will need 300 to 500 million employable skilled youth and there’s a need to completely change the university as well a school education system.

Conclusion

By applying the same algorithm again and again, and we are expecting a wonderful result if we want to get the desired output, we have to make changes in that algorithm and execute it. Our education system must be able to pursue the all-round development of students. It should be creative rather than mugging up what has been taught. According to modern demand, visualized and technical education must be promoted. We are determined to acquire and maintain a framework based on capacity building for teaching faculty, using diversified pedagogy for teaching process, encouraging creative patterns that promote positive behavior, and applying the educational infrastructure to boost innovation.

Hence it can be rightly said that the Indian education system needs some serious reforms.
