Women are worshipped as a goddess in India, but not given her true
position. As we all know, India is a male-dominated country
where males are dominant in all areas, and females are required to
be only responsible for family care, living at home, including much
other bondage.
The country’s full development depends upon the
woman (i.e. half-population) of our country, still who are not being
empowered and restricted by many social cases of abuse. Women
Empowerment is a process whereby women become able to
organize themselves to increase their own self-worth, self persistence, etc. Empowerment of women particularly in rural areas
is the necessity today. Basic Rights like Education, Nutrition, and
Health is like luxuries for millions of girls across the world even
today. There are a lot of girls in rural areas who drop out of
school and end up in small employment or doing household work or
chores.
WHAT IS THE NEED OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT?
Women empowerment can be said as the need of the hour. From the time immemorial women are always forced to occupy the second position as compared to men. As a result of which they are not free and independent entities and are always associated with men. The urgent need for women's empowerment is felt because of their status in comparison with men which was never equal.
In today’s time also women have to face many challenges
such as - Domestic Violence, Early Marriage, Female Foeticide,
Discrimination at the workplace, Gender-based discrimination, etc. we
must ensure that each and every girl gets her right to education,
proper nutrition, and good health facilities. There should be proper
law and enforcement for the safety of women. Women of the
country should get the freedom to make their own decisions.
Empowering the women of the country is one of the smartest things
we can do to promote a healthier and more prosperous world. The
concept of empowering women is to bring change in society to
remove the gap between both the genders (male and female) and to
equalize the educational, social and economic status of women with
men. The real meaning of women empowerment is to make them
well educated and leave them free so that they can be capable of
taking their own decisions in any field.
Why do we need women empowerment?
Empowerment is probably the totality of the following or similar
capabilities-
* Decision-making power of their own.
*Access to information and resources for taking proper decisions.
*Assertiveness in collective decision making, positive thinking on the
ability to make the change .
*Ability to learn skills, to change other’s perception by democratic
means.
*Involving in the growth process and changes that is never-ending
and self-initiated.
Women in India now participate fully in areas such as Education,
Sports, Politics, Culture, Service sector, Science and technology, etc.
In Economy- their contribution to socio-economic development as
producers and workers will be recognized in the formal and informal
sectors (including home-based workers) and appropriate policies
relating to empowerment and to her working condition should be
drawn up.
In Agriculture- concentrated efforts should be made to ensure that
benefits of training, extension, and various programs will reach
them in proportion to their numbers.
In Industry- comprehensive support in terms of labor legislation,
social security and at her support services to participate in various
industrial sectors.
Advantages of women empowerment- *Our next generation will be
empowered because of the woman.
*If a woman will be empowered she won’t be a burden on anyone.
*She could be able to help men financially.
*Family will become more strong because of both working hands,
this helps to break the cycle of poverty for families around the world.
CONCLUSION:
India is reported as the fourth most dangerous country in the world for
women. India also noted as the worst country for our women among
G20 countries. Crime against women such as rape, acid throwing,
dowry killings, etc. has been reported in India. India needs to take
some strong and advance steps to improve women’s position in society through proper health, higher education, and
