FastForward Justice is organising a Webinar on Misuse of Dowry Protection Laws and What are the Legal Safeguards
Dowry is one of India’s ancient evil social practices. It is something, unfortunately, practised across all communities in India. The societal mindset regarding dowry is very rigid and the practice and the casualties related to it has grown over the years. It has turned into a national crime in which woman of all the class has suffered.
The legal definition according to Section 2of Dowry Prohibition Act means that it is something that signifies any property or profitable security given by the bride to groom. But with the passage of time, after legislating many laws for the protection from the evils of dowry, the society also witnessed misuse of the Dowry by Women due to personal vendetta and other personal reason.
This gross misuse clubbed with the contemptuous Media Trial doesn’t only causes a miscarriage of justice but only ruins the reputation and the privacy of the victims. This webinar talks about the misuse of dowry laws and what people can do to avoid such misuse and protect their rights.

Eligibility
- The participants must be currently pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in law i.e. 3 Year L.L.B. course or 5 Year B.A.LL.B. Course from any recognized university/school or pursuing LLM from any recognized University.
- Any person having knowledge of the law can also participate.
About the Speaker
Advocate Rahul Tiwari is a practicing Advocate in Delhi High Court, District Court, and Gurugram District Court. He completed his LLM with a specialization in Information Technology Law. Apart from legal practice he has a strong passion for legal research and public speaking.
He has presented 16 Research papers in various international and national seminars, including papers in Denmark, NLSIU Bangalore, BHU, IIT Hyderabad, and also has 7 Unpaid publications in prestigious journals including the UGC approved one.
He has also been invited in NLU Delhi as a Resource Person in a national conference on Protection of Women from sexual harassment at the workplace. Apart from legal practise and research, he loves teaching students (Colleges & School). He follows the life philosophy of Gandhi and Ambedkar. He has also learnt Horse Riding
